Bart Vanmechelen

I was born in 1963 in the Flemish part of Belgium close to the Dutch border; married, with four children; studied psychology, anthroposophy and social development based on anthroposophy.I work in curative education and social therapy as director in a daycare center, as well as part time staff member for quality development and training in a residential care center and as a member of the leadership team of the Curative Education and Social Therapy Council at the Goetheanum in Dornach (www.khsdornach.org). I represent the Council in the Board of the ECCE (www.ecce.eu) and in the Eliant core group (www.eliant.eu). I give lectures and workshops, organize conferences and teach in the curative education training. Since October 2016 I’ve been appointed as classholder for the curative education movement in the School of Spiritual Science. I’m a member of the board of the Antroposophical Society in Belgium since 2002, with an interval between 2009 and 2012 and since last year its general secretary.

Anthroposophical meditation and the schooling path are very central in my life and work. Meditation for me is like an inner compass focused on the human development. With this compass we can arrive at the essence of our human existence and we can navigate towards more humanity in our ever more complex world. Hence my strong connection with the Goetheanum Meditation Initiative Worldwide, that organizes the Living Connections conference.

Together with Pim Blomaard and Gunhild von Kries I will offer the workshop on Meditation and Community building.
